Tipping paper is the outer wrapper of the filter section of a cigarette and is a fundamental component in connecting the tobacco rod to the filter. In addition, the cigarette tip paper controls the intensity of the smoke emission via the perforation, serves as a design tool for the individual branding of cigarettes and is a carrier for specific substances such as aromas and flavors.
Tipping paper is also the only part of the cigarette that is in direct contact with the consumer's lips and fingers and the first visible element after opening the cigarette pack and removing the tear-off tab of the inner liner. Because of its various surface properties, the cigarette tip paper is therefore an important means of communication and interaction between the article and the consumer.
